Phoooooooooooney!

Review by Goodbye Cruel World, 2010-07-20

First off, let me say from the bottom of my Sapphic heart that NOTHING turns me on more than a BBW who can take a punch to the face, and after favoriting that "ham in the mouth" incident from last Thanksgiving and watching it about sixty times, my respect for Paula Deen knows few bounds. OMG I mean she can just laugh something like that off, AND she can cook? Paula, honey, I am SOOOOO in love with you!

OK, all that said, this cookbook is only so-so. Let's face it, as a Big Beautiful Woman Paula is about one more extra large bowl of pork rinds away from going heels up, so being the shrewd redneck Martha Stewart she is, what's Paula do but try her hardest to pass off some of her hard-earned shakin'-her-heiny fame to her kids! Yes! I mean for real, every other recipe was one "supposedly" invented by her corn-fed hunks o' sons? Yeeeeeah. I don't believe that, do you?

So whereas the twice baked potatoes and corn chip creations might be oh-so-tasty, it's asking a lot for us to swallow her story that her sons really thought these recipes up. It's that sort of mendacity that really bugs me. So while I'd loooove to have dinner (and more...MUCH more!) with Paula, I can't give this commercial for the Deen brand name anything above three stars. And that's an extra star for the cleavage in that "one" picture in there!

It might tell you everything you need to know if I mention I don't even have this cookbook in the kitchen...I keep it next to my bed.

Michael's Better Than Takeout Pad Thai - The Worst

Review by Elaine R. Magenheim, 2010-05-12

This has to be the worst meal I have ever made. Luckily my friends know that I can produce wonderful meals. This was a total embarassment. It calls for Two 8-ounce packages of pad thai rice noodles. I should have known better because the amount of noodles was ridiculous. It was so horrible, I had to throw it in the trash because no one wanted to eat it. They suggest making it in two batches. That doesn't make a difference the portions are dead wrong. This was the only recipe I've tried in this book and I'm hesitant to try another.

Yum! Yum! Yum!

Review by Kari M. Layne, 2010-03-15

Great easy recipies! Aunt Peggy's Meat Loaf and the Mashed Sweet Potatoes with a kick are my favorites! Even if you're not a cook, this book makes it easy to make great food that anyone will love!

A little less tiem and money

Review by Kathy H, 2010-02-18

I love Paula! This book is good by all means, but I was looking for
recipes with less indrigients and more items that I might have instock in the kitchen.
